Membership Info
Membership in the church is a very serious commitment. It should be made only after serious prayer, contemplation, and study. The Forty Fort United Methodist Church receives new members each quarter. Meetings with the Pastor are necessary and can be scheduled by calling the church office 287.3840.
The United Methodist church has two classifications of members. Baptized members, anyone who has received the Sacrament of Baptism at the church, and members who have been received on profession of faith. Through the power of the fullness of God in your life and your desire to serve God, through your acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior, and the baptism and indwelling of the Holy Spirit you profess your faith.
We also receive members by letter of transfer from other United Methodist Churches or other Christian churches.
At the Forty Fort United Methodist Church we take our responsibility toward our members seriously. We also expect our members to be accountable to the vows they take as they profess their faith. You may be asked to fill out a personal questionnaire and a Spiritual journey evaluation. This will help us assess your areas of interest and involvement in the life of the church.
Baptism
The Sacrament of infant and children Baptism in the Forty Fort United Methodist Church, proclaims and affirms to the world this child is a child of God. The Sacrament reminds us of God's love and grace for us all. In infant and children Baptism the church, the assembled community of believers shares in the vows of the parents and godparents. Together we covenant with God to nurture and shepherd these children in our midst. That as our children grow they will also grow in the love and knowledge of the Lord. The sacrament is offered as necessary. You need to contact the church office at 287-3840 and set up an appointment to talk with the pastor about the baptism of your child.
Adult baptism is also available at the Forty Fort United Methodist church. This sacrament is for any adult not previously baptized. Adult baptism is for new believers never before baptized, who wish to covenant with the fullness of God. Baptism is a requirement for membership in the church. To schedule or to seek more information about the Sacrament of Baptism contact the church office at 287-3840.
